and love the categories.

With the Poetry Foundation`s iPhone app, you can now take hundreds of poems by classic and contemporary poets with you wherever you go. From William Shakespeare to C sar Vallejo to Heather McHugh, the Poetry Foundation`s ...
too busy app geeks went crazy no need for anything but sign in or subscribe issues of poetry mag list of poets list of poems the zany themes like sad happy etc are stupid stupid Mjb881
This app has gotten me really into reading poetry recently Unlike a book of poetry which often requires a commitment to a specific poet this app is great for people who are still finding out what they like because it introduces you to a wide selection of different poems and then allows you to investigate a specific poet and their work if you re interested Some of the poems seem to have editing issues so that would be good to resolve but overall I ve had a good experience I want to make one suggestion though it would be amazing if you added an annotation feature so that users could add their own comments on a poem or jot down ideas they had about it Really like it but an annotation feature would be nice No one đ
Poetry is Always Good Even on the Go japelstin19
This is a wonderful start to a world class resource Probably each non English language work should be represented by at least two translations No Tu Fu poem and only one Li Po poem MontanaAbe
This user interface allows me to seamlessly transition from poem to poem with the amazing spin feature Shaking up the poetry game Great app Poetry in motion DanielTurn
All my life I had to make the choice between reading poetry and being on the go Now I don t have to make that choice Poetry from Poetry Foundation is the app of the Gods I would rate it 5 stars but it doesn t let me write my own poetry I still am forced to make the choice between writing and walking Someday This app is great Baligne
which is present thousands of poems and poetry in an interesting and engaging way Regarding complaints that it is not complete without certain poets it makes no claim to being a complete anthology They can only publish online poems for which they have permission or are in public domain And in regard to the complaints that it doesn t maintain line breaks it states clearly that the mobile app cannot maintain line breaks the way a printed page can and points readers to the full website Great at what it does App user 1955
Ted Hughes Langston Hughes Seamus Heaney Theodore Roethke Elizabeth Bishop et al Incomplete without these giants Major Poets Missing SAEFS67
Terrible 10 Would not recommend Terrible app dumb logo Louis Pierotti
I loved this app It was a great way to find great new poetry and revisit your favorites The spin feature was always fun But it doesn t work anymore Opening it it freezes and forces me to close it And when it does finally start working I click on a poem and nothing shows up Since I love the app but it no longer works rendering it useless I give it a 2 Used to love this app OniApp
I enjoy reading poetry and love writing poetry I think the Poetry Foundation had a good idea to have an app for its organization People could then read poetry on the go if they don t prefer reading from books although I prefer books My main problem is that there is so much technicality going into how a poet wants their poem to be interpreted When reading on the app the lines don t match up to when I read it on my laptop or computer For a poet where you punctuate which word will start the next line or stanza etc is SO important This app messes with the rhythm of the poems because of it I am assuming smartphones aren t not wide enough and have to move some words to another line which for engaged poet readers is not a good sign So I wouldn t suggest downloading this on phones You will lose some of a poet s voice and how he or she wants their work to connect to the reader by doing so Enjoy the concept however Angel of LOL
This app is okay for just any old app but if you like reading poetry then it s fantastic The user interface is a little quirky but it delivers the goods i e poetry It s easy to find most of the classic poems with which you are probably familiar but it s also easy to find a lot of new material you might not know about Some of the poems are even accompanied by a reading of the poem you can listen to in the app I cannot recommend this application highly enough if you like poetry But if you are just looking for another app to download then it s probably not the right app for you Great but only if you like poetry Mitchell22
This is one of my favorite apps for poems Please keep updating it Love it morganafae
I love the spinner but when I search for a specific poem then try to open it the app crashes Crashing Annawritedraw
Don t even bother with this till the awol developers update their app Regularly deletes favorites Wackadoodle
App crashes every time you select a poet poem after searching for one Fix the bugs please Bigwoody69
This app has a cool way of finding various poems and poets Only thing I can complain about is that sometimes when I click on a poem the app crashes Otherwise this is pretty great Pretty Great Marshwiggle24
I love this app so much But it keeps crashing which is really annoying PLEASE FIX THIS Crashing 182cam423cam
DO NOT DOWNLOAD NONONO Forshaneit
I ll keep this straightforward PROS Poetry in your pocket They seem to keep the structure of the poems Poetry suggestions CONS The app crashes on a lot of poems very limited selection of poetry Hardly any T S Eliot Byron and NO DYLAN THOMAS It s not very easy to search for poems You have to get it exactly right when you type it in or else you won t find it All in all it s a good idea but it s buggy and needs development Concise review BTylerLowe
Although I sometimes neglect this app distracted by other pursuits I am pleased or shocked or entranced when I do use it One question just read a poem that seemed to have an audio version but it wouldn t play My phone A bug A joy Dcindc&md
This is an excellent amalgamation of some classic and much loved poetry I have found a number of poems are inaccessible though as I select them the app quits Particularly Rudyard Kipling s collection Glitchy dvandtto
Searches are worthless A stinker ajhook53
My favorite poem if by Rudyard Kipling crashes during when it loads Using iphone 5s iOS 9 3 2 Decent app Filfrey
Nice app with decently good selection of poems There are some interface things I d complain about but that s not what I want to focus on My major problem with this is that it one day out of the blue just decided to wipe my favorites list of poems some of which I had saved to reference for academic projects and now I have to find them all over again Didn t even have it for that long Would be nice if it worked Great until it deleted all my stuff stargazer43
Twice now I have opened this app to revisit poems that I have saved as favorites only to find that the Favorites file is empty I am very disappointed Poetry Juxta747
The app was working well in combination with another poetry app both providing me a fine selection of poetry When I opened the app today however all my favorites were erased This combined with the antiquated look of the user interface severely damages my perception of this app Working Well Then Master Grant
Couldn t get text of poem into Facebook Not happy Dennis Fink
A great start with a clever interface and lots of poems both classic and new However I still haven t figured out why some poems have a little speaker icon which seems like it should play an audio of the poem but does nothing Also it would be nice to be able to download poems from their web site directly into the app Sadly apparently no longer being updated and audio still doesn t play Appears to be abandoned as the app support link leads only to a promo page Good But Could Be Even Better HomerIII
This app is such a great idea But it seems to be pretty incomplete e g Famous poems missing like Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Frost and The Tiger by Blake and point taken about lack of diversity of poets lots of white folks I understand the challenges of needing the poems to be in the public domain or have mobile rights but the two I cited are easily findable in the Internet and I d expect Blake at least to be in the public domain Missing key classical famous poems Mknoke
A tragedy has occurred By Isaiah Taylor I was browsing your app When all of the sudden I noticed a lack Of W H Auden I tapped on the search bar And typed in his name But no Auden beheld there It was really a shame I know that you re busy And all working hard But without good ole Auden Your app must be marred I m only a student But I ve got some time Would you but allow me To add in the rhymes Author s note I m not sure what your process is for adding poems to the app but it would be great if there was a way that we laymen could add them If this isn t possible the particular Auden poems that I miss dearly are The Shield of Achilles Epitaph on a Tyrant and September 1 1939 Cheers Isaiah Taylor A Tragedy has occurred bobotay
Love reading after spinning Great App Jakfredette
my mother was an English teacher poet app is most accessible for those not in the poetry narrative BZ well done naval speak cool for neophyte
Thank you for this wonderful app A treasure
I love being able to turn to this on the subway or a doctors room Its the perfect way to pass time meaningfully Havent tried the audio yet but Im excited to Best ap
Love this app find it inspiring and motivating as a writer Wonderful
I use it daily and I always read each poem out loud Thanks for the great collection of poetry Very grateful for this app
The world of words literally at your fingertips anywhere anytime Nothing else available compares and Im not talking exclusively about poetry apps Important App
Im a big fan of poetry and have been studying poetry for a long time I love the way this app is set up but a spot check shows it is missing many classic poems To name one one of my favourite poems is Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken which was sadly missing along with a lot of his other work The same went for Longfellow and not just less popular poems Favors the modern forgets some classics
I love this app Expand your mind Poetry
Yes Of course Are there holes in this apps collection Is its design imperfect Should you download it and enjoy its thoughtfully curated collection of oftenexcellent verse A nobrainer download
Nice app but could definitely benefit from a design overhaul Needs a new UI
Some poems are narrated This is attractive to new readerslisteners Thanks Audio too
I love how the poems can be searched by mood or author The spinner idea is very neat as well Good selection Very good
Thanks NPR Writers AlmanacGarrison Keillor Perfect for a poetry fix to soothe the savage breast in the midst of a stressful day Brilliant
Definitely a welcome app on my phone Fun and entertaining
Excellent App for casual reading or when you need something inspirational quickly Great App
Whenever Im feeling a need for inspiration I open this app and pick a theme to suit my mood A great way to find poets too Excellent inspiration
I am giving five stars This app allows you to chose two categories of poetry at once to creat unique list of reading lists for educational purposes and personal enjoyment The one minor problem I had was that none of the recorded poems worked They were all either too quiet or had no sound at allplease consider fixing this one minor glitch of this awesome app Great app
I love this app and am finding I use it all the time on the subway before bed at lunch etc A few comments A number of well known poets are not represented including Anne Sexton Dylan Thomas Rumi Nikki Giovanni and Maya Angelou These poets would be essentials in any poetry anthology The upside to this is there are lots and lots of young emerging poets whom I havent heard of and many are quite good I cant seem to figure out how to share my favorite poems on twitter This could be something the app could improve on or maybe someone needs to show me Ive gone into my iPhone settings many times and surfed the web to find an answer Wonderful Here are some suggestions
I love this app I have lived and written poetry since I was able to read and write and this app gets used daily It makes my heart happy A true treasure
I cant imagine a better app for poetry on the go its easy endless and makes finding the opportune poetry for your mood a breeze Do itttt Best poetry app
All I want to do is read Poetry mag on my iPhone while waiting for my flight But no This app Its poetry roulette Not necessary Not useful No thank you Spin is superfluous
Small app A lot of wellselected poems Fun and intuitive I love the colors The interface could be refreshed to give more space to the poems themselves See also the poetry app by Penguin publishers Fun small colorful
I am not a poetry buff but I like it now and then This app is perfect for that moment when social media is making you crazy but you need something to let your mind focus on After a turn or two with the spinner I always feel inspired Wonderful way to kill time
Please include an inapp dictionary so you can highlight and define any word Great app thank you Please add a Dictionary
The iPhone is a computer and computers are at their best when you can interact and connect in new ways this app lets me connect with poetry wherever I am however I am feeling I have used this app for years to pull up poems just a wonderful thing to experience Still Awesome
Thanks Great app and content
This app had very few classics on it needs a lot of work Would not recommend it No
So I want to explore the sound section yet it does not work Really annoying No sound
Ive definitely read more poems and more authors since acquiring this app The search functions dont feel intuitive or easy and the audio feature which I loved no longer works on my iPhone 4G since upgrading to OS7 Lotsa good poetry mediocre support
They love using the thematically organized spinning wheel to discover poems to read for us at their bedtime They save long poems as favorites and recite them over a few days Wed like a feature allowing us to mark and return to an exact place within a poem Our kids read us bedtime poetry from this app
This app includes hundreds of poems to browse through and is a great tool to have at your fingertips A must have for sure Great Poetry App
Love it
What a great idea Love this app Its like the penny arcade meets poetry meets social media BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT
Good app but without Dylan Thomas its incomplete No Dylan Thomas
This app brings great content to me in interesting ways so of course I am a fan I really like the slider Didnt give it 5 because the audio very unfortunately cuts out along with your screen fading Great Discovery Tool
Wheres Bukowski and darker items Good but
I want to like this app because its such a great idea The poetry spinner is a nice move toward intuitive thinking about how to find poetry But I cant believe in this day and age that a poetry collection aiming to be somewhat catholic in its selections wouldnt include more black and brown poets not just a few superstars and I do mean just a few and that wouldnt have a way to search for them Also strangely theres no category for poetry about conflict Life is as close as the categories get to that Feels like this app is aimed at a very slim section of the world Lots of white folks
A great start with a clever interface and lots of poems both classic and new However I still havent figured out why some poems have a little speaker icon which seems like it should play an audio of the poem but does nothing Also it would be nice to be able to download poems from their web site directly into the app Good But Could Be Even Better
I really like this app but so far I am very disappointed because I dont see a way to log in to my poetry foundation account and see all the favorite poems that I already have stored there One thing missing
What else should I say Brilliant as a dream
yay yay i say yay yay yay woot woot i hoot woot woot woot suggest you include a link from the poet bios to all the poets poems as you do at the bottom of each poem yay woot
Do you ever walk through the poetry section of your library and grab random books read a poem or two then repeat a few times This app lets you do that in your living room or favorite coffee house and you can even direct it to give you random poems but on your desired topic or mood Give it a spin Randomly Magnificent
I first heard of this from listening to Performance Today when they had Writers Almanac I love the poems in the humor and nature section Love it
This app is great when I was trying to complete a language arts projectThe app got me a 4 and helped me my grade point averageAlso I got a variety of poems that I may have never seen if I did not download the appThi app was great for Christmas project I had tried to find a poem for my teacherSo I really love this app it is greatWHOO The app to use for poetry projects
This app is wonderful I love it in every possible way Fantastic
This app never fails to make my day a bit brighter a tiny bit deeper sometimes somewhat profound More please Thank you Random beauty
Im loving this app all over again Well done team Poetry Loving It
Okay app with overwhelmingly male poets Kind of disappointing Eh
great app very cool but a dictionary in the app would be an awesome update Needs a dictionary
This app is a superior app that lets you see poetry from 50 authors It lets you pick an emotion such as humor worried or even gratitude Then you pick a topic such as life youth or even celebration Then it searches for the poetry using those topics you chose and finds poems that match what you were searching for This app also lets you search by poet moods and subjects Also when you are reading a poem you can touch the authors name and some information about the poet pops up For example when I looked at Shel Silversteins biography it shows that he is a singersongwriter a cartoonist an actor and an awardwinning childrens author This Is pretty fantastic that you can see what the poets do aside from poetry Something this app didnt have was a modern spin It really doesnt need to look modern but it would be nice if it had a little more detail to what the app looked like Overall a wonderful app This app is ranked very high on my Good Apps List It is very organized and it shown very clearly where everything is placed Some apps are a little more kidfriendly and this app could be a little more fun and creative For example they couldve used more colors to show where everything is Or every section could be color coded This app really helps you learn how to write poetry in better ways by showing you professional examples from professional poets This app is overall a very userfriendly app that anyone could use A great app that really helps with better poetry writing
